The Bachelor of Computer Science caters for people with specific interests in computer science and information technology. Throughout the program a core of compulsory computer science courses and a wide range of elective courses in mathematics and statistics as well as commerce, design studies, economics, engineering, finance, humanities and social sciences and science are covered.
Graduates of this program are able to design computer-based solutions to the problems of information management and processing in industry, commerce and the public sector. The program produces highly skilled, adaptable graduates who are able to design computer-based solutions to the problems of information management and processing in industry, commerce, science, entertainment, and the public sector. Students who do well in their courses may complete an additional year of study to obtain an honours degree which provides them with the opportunity for further research and enhanced employment prospects.
Employment opportunities are provided in the areas of administration, computer programming, computer science, defence, information technology management, quality improvement or systems analysis.
