About this Degree

2008 | 2009

Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Systems) with Bachelor of Finance B.E(CS)/Fi
2008

Location: North Terrace Campus
Duration: 5 years (full time)
Degree: Double Degree

Program Outline

Computer Systems engineers design and construct computer systems in all of their various forms. This involves the design of electronic circuits, writing software, installing and managing computer networks, planning projects and managing people engaged in these activities. A detailed and thorough knowledge of the structure of computer systems and of digital circuit design methods is needed to undertake these tasks successfully.

Our graduates have expertise as both computer programmers and electronic hardware designers, and can therefore design and build computers or computing systems as well as the software to run on these systems. Their work is of critical importance to global industries such as automotive, defence, industrial control, consumer electronics and communications, which are strongly represented by companies in Australia and South Australia.

This degree develops these skills by providing a strong background in mathematics, physics and electronics, as well as extensive practice in the design and operation of both hardware and software systems. It also develops written and oral communication skills, and familiarity with project management and quality control techniques.

Combined degrees for Computer Systems Engineering are available with Arts (stream code 216), Economics (217), Finance (218), Mathematical & Computer Sciences (219) and Laws (SATAC code 324111, stream code 114 - minimum 6.5 years full-time study).
