About this Degree

2008 | 2009

Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) with Bachelor of Mathematical and Computer Sciences B.E(Ch)/Ma
2008

Location: North Terrace Campus
Duration: 5 years (full time)
Degree: Double Degree

Program Outline

This double degree program provides students with the flexibility to study Chemical Engineering and a range of mathematics, statistics and computer science courses. This program will consist of courses in Chemical Engineering which is involved in the systematic design, development and operation of process systems for the extraction, transformation and recovery of materials. It is a key engineering discipline, which combines knowledge of basic chemistry and mathematics with engineering principles and real world economic considerations. The scale of operation varies from small to very large, and a principal feature of chemical engineering is the translation of laboratory-scale research results to large-scale commercial production. Chemical Engineering is the discipline which sustains and improves a range of industries as diverse as food processing, petrochemicals, ceramics, petroleum refining, primary metals, plastics, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, glass and specialty chemicals.

Students may choose to combine Chemical Engineering with Mathematical & Computer Sciences as it will strengthen their skills in mathematics, statistics and computing. Combining this engineering program with a strong mathematics program such as this, will provide an opportunity for research and enhanced employment prospects.

Combined degrees for Chemical Engineering are also available with Arts (stream code 201), Economics (202), Finance (203), Mathematical & Computer Sciences (204), Science (205), Science (Biotechnology) (239) and Laws (SATAC code 324111, stream code 106 - minimum 6.5 yrs full-time study). For the combined degree with Science, studies in science may be chosen from biological sciences, chemistry, geology, physics and mathematics.
