Program Outline

The Graduate Certificate in Business Entreprise (SME) will guide you through the process of thinking about, creating and growing high potential small to medium enterprises. Using leading-edge concepts, methodologies and tools these programs have a strong emphasis on combining theory and real world application in a dynamic nature that invigorates all those involved.

Based on the highly successful Graduate Entrepreneurial Program at the University of Adelaide, which incubates businesses from idea to the marketplace, these programs include industry-specific case studies, class discussions and assignments based on participants own workplace projects or problems, and a combination of successful industry practitioners, entrepreneurs and academics to present a program that makes learning relevant and immediately useful.

Further this course in conducted via "intensive mode" which normally involves two day's of full time lectures and workshops, followed by a pause of several weeks (during which time students complete assignments), and finally another two days' of lectures and workshops, followed by final assignments.

This program is suitable for graduates and professionals from any disciplinary background seeking to understand the entrepreneurial process, and is ideal for people who:

  • have a degree from any discipline and want to understand the nature and process of entrepreneurship, innovation and SME management
  • work in innovative or knowledge-based SMEs
  • want to further develop their capacity to be dynamic, creative entrepreneurs
  • want to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to effectively establish, manage or work within innovative and entrepreneurial business ventures
  • seek to advance their careers in entrepreneurship and SME management through a formal postgraduate business qualification from The University of Adelaide

Most postgraduate coursework programs require a Bachelor degree or equivalent qualification from an approved institution as a qualification for admission.

If a candidate does not satisfy the entry requirements for the Graduate Certificate in Business Enterprise, but has presented evidence that they are able to undertake the work for a degree, ECIC may still accept the applicant. For instance, candidates with substantial professional experience (8-10 years), and holding a position, which the employer could otherwise employ a graduate to hold, may be accepted.
