Honours Degree of Bachelor of Science in High Performance Computational Physics
HBScHPCPhy
|
| Location: | North Terrace Campus |
| Duration: | 4 years
(full-time or
part-time |
| Degree/Award: | Honours Bachelor |
This program will introduce students to the sophisticated high performance computing techniques required for the solution of cutting-edge research problems in theoretical and mathematical physics. The knowledge acquired will enable graduates to tackle challenging, large-scale scientific problems using advanced computing technologies. The program consists of core studies in physics, mathematics and computing science, and includes an Honours program in theoretical physics, together with specialised courses in computer science and mathematics, to underpin skills in high-performance computing.
First year includes core studies in physics, maths and computer science. Second year develops these areas of study further, with a focus on physics and applied mathematics, while third year involves advanced courses in physics. Other areas of study recommended to students during the first three years of the program include courses in electrical engineering, computer science and applied mathematics. The fourth year, which allows students to obtain their Honours degree, equips students with the leading-edge skills required to gain employment in this emerging area.
