Program Outline

No new admissions into this program.

The Professional Certificate in Arbitration will provide you with the knowledge and an appreciation of arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), and their role within the Australian legal system.

The course is designed for completion in two parts: a general course and an advanced course, over two university semesters. The general course is offered from February to June, and the advanced course from July to October.

The general course introduces the concepts, frameworks and practice of dispute resolution, while the advanced Course provides a greater depth of the understanding, knowledge and skills needed to determine arbitration outcomes.

On successful completion of the general course, students are eligible for entry to the advanced course. Those successfully passing the advanced course receive a Professional Certificate in Arbitration, awarded by the University of Adelaide. Both courses must be completed within three years to receive the Professional Certificate. The most benefit and best understanding of the subject matter is gained by students who complete within one year.

For all administrative enquiries please contact the National Course Coordinator, joanna.carrick@adelaide.edu.au

For all academic enquiries please contact the Academic Program Manager, rosemary.owens@adelaide.edu.au or kathleen.mcevoy@adelaide.edu.au
