Duration: 6 months (full-time or part-time? equivalent)

Program Outline

For managers who wish to take an introductory management program, or those who wish to acquire new skills without a lengthy time commitment, the 4-course Graduate Certificate in Management (GCM) is an appropriate academic program.

Applicants who do not have a bachelor degree but who have a minimum of 7 years relevant work experience, including a number of years at management level, must complete this program before enrolling in higher level programs.

After successfully completing the Graduate Certificate, they may then apply for entry to the Graduate Diploma of Business Administration, followed by the MBA or MBA (Advanced) program. The 4 courses already completed will be credited towards the higher level programs.

Program Delivery

Trimester Teaching Sessions

Each course (subject) is delivered over a 12-week trimester.  There are three trimesters each year.

After Hours Teaching

Most classes are scheduled to accommodate full-time working professionals. Classes are generally held on weeknights, with one 3-hour teaching block per week. Some compulsory core courses are delivered fornightly on Saturdays, in a 6-hour teaching block.

 

Program Structure

Core courses: Fundamentals of Leadership, Accounting for Managers, Marketing Management.

1 Elective course is chosen from a list of courses available each year. Topics include Strategy, Marketing, Finance, General Management and International Business.

Assessment

Assessment of courses usually comprises an individual assignment, a group assignment and an examination.  Some courses also include student participation in the classroom as an assessable component.  Students must pass all pieces of assignment in order to pass a course.
