Program Outline

Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Management is an area of prime importance in the management of enterprises and other workplaces, generating a demand for qualified occupational health and safety professionals. This program is designed to enable graduates to work effectively in a range of OHS professional roles, such as: OHS managers and program coordinators, occupational health nurses, OHS inspectors and advisers and OHS educators.

These courses are offered in a partnership between the University of Adelaide (Discipline of Public Health) and the University of South Australia (School of Psychology). The program is recognised by SafeWork SA and Safework Australia, as well as the Safety Institute of Australia, the Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and other relevant OHS professional organisations.

The program is available by campus or online study. There are several electives that are also available as short or intensive courses.

The Graduate Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety Management (Grad.Cert.O.H.&S.Mgt.) consists of four core courses and can be completed in two semesters of part-time study.

The Discipline runs one-and two-day workshops in specialised areas, including occupational hygiene, ergonomics and OHS business case development.

The OHS and Public Health programs are affiliated with the Centre for Military and Veterans’ Health, a consortium of The University of Queensland, The University of Adelaide and Charles Darwin University http://www.uq.edu.au/cmvh

For further information, phone (08)8303 4637 or email the Discipline's Postgraduate Administrative Officer.
