Graduate entry only.
Completed Honours degree or equivalent in Mathematics, Physics or Electrical & Electronic Engineering; or, a completed Bachelorâ€TMs degree or equivalent majoring in Mathematics or Physics, plus some experience in the Defence industry.

Study Plans

Total units required for this program - 12 units

Candidates may present courses offered by other universitites from a register of approved courses maintained bythe Board of Studies, but the total value of these external courses must not exceed 6 units (including the core course).

  • DEFSCI 7035 Detection, Estimation and Classification (3 units)
  • DEFSCI 7036 Introduction to Discrete Linear Systems (3 units)
  • DEFSCI 7041 Image Sensors & Processing (3 units)
  • DEFSCI 7211 Radar Principles & Systems - An Introduction (3 units)

Group C

*DEFSCI 7037 and DEFSCI 7063 cannot both be presented

Specialised Studies may consist of directed readings or approved short courses as approved by the Faculty. The content and assessment of these courses will be determined in each case by the academic coordinator of the course in consultation with the student's supervisor and the student.

  • SIP 7027A & SIP 7027B Qualifying Studies in Mathematics Part 1 & 2 (12 units)#
    or
  • SIP 7028 Qualifying Studies in Mathematics (12 units)

#Students will enrol in part A in one semester and part B in the following semester

*Students who are required to undertake preliminary work will normally enrol in one of the above courses. On satisfactory completion of this work the student will proceed to study as previously outlined.

The availability of all courses is conditional on the availability of staff and facilities and sufficient enrolments.
