This program has been designed to meet the ongoing needs of society for infrastructure that is innovative and technologically advanced while still being socially and environmentally acceptable in the short term, and sustainable in the long term. The demand for civil and environmental engineers continues to be strong, with graduates generally able to choose between a number of attractive technical career paths.
Civil and Environmental Engineering is concerned with assessing and managing the effects of human activity on the natural and built environments. The goal is to do this in a sustainable manner. This ensures that we can provide adequate infrastructure and natural resources for current generations, without compromising the ability of future generations to do the same. Environmental engineers may be involved in environmental impact assessment, water resources management, pollution control, waste management or the planning and design of engineering facilities to minimise their impact on the environment.
This program includes a core of civil engineering analysis and design, along with detailed studies in environmental science and engineering.
Well-suited to graduates wanting more than the one year Masters engineering program, this program gives the option of studying technical courses at an advanced level and the opportunity to engage in a research project.
A 48-unit program, students will complete the requirements for the Master of Engineering, with additional study comprising 12 units of more advanced technical coursework. A project to the value of 12 units introduces candidates to research.
Intending students should consult the program coordinator early in the year in which they plan to study to check when particular courses or projects will be available.
This 48-unit program includes a core of civil engineering analysis and design, along with detailed studies in environmental science and engineering. Further graduates of this program may have future opportunities to embark on research within this field.
