Emergency LightingBack to Building Fire Safety Features In accordance with Division 2.6 Emergency Facilities and Procedures (OHSW Regulations), a workplace must provide for the safe and rapid evacuation persons in the event of an emergency. If the failure of an artificial lighting system could cause a risk to the safety of persons at work, a suitable emergency lighting system must be provided and maintained. Exit signs will also provide sufficient lighting during an emergency, and illuminate the safe route to exit the building. Should the power fail, emergency lighting (including exit signs) will operate on battery power for a period of 90 minutes. |
