Darling Building Faculty of Sciences Office

The relocation of the Faculty of Sciences administration to the Darling Building will provide a more accessible facility and prominent address for the Faculty at the hub of the North Terrace campus.

Construction commenced in September and the existing laboratories have been stripped out in the first step to refurbish the eastern ground floor of the building to create a modern office environment for student support and administration.

A new student entry will be created, linking to the walkway opposite the Barr Smith with cantilevered aluminium clad canopy and frameless glass automatic doors accessed from new landscaped entry steps and ramp.

Internally new workstations and furniture will be provided throughout open office areas with formal and informal meeting areas to foster a team based work environment. A sense of openness and natural light will be enhanced with full height glass partitions to enclosed offices while privacy is retained with translucent film to the glass incorporating science theme graphic motif. Environmental considerations have been a significant factor in the selection of interior finishes including furniture fabrics and the extensive use of natural finished Eco ply to new furniture. Students will be well catered for in the Reception area with computer access points, brochure and form display and seated waiting area.
