Bicycle Shelter

To continue to encourage cycling as a viable transport choice, Property Services commissioned Tridente Architects to design a contemporary bicycle shelter for the North Terrace campus.

Located behind the Horace Lamb Building, the futuristic Secure Bicycle Storage Unit design provides students, staff and visitors to the University with a safe, secure and clutter-free storage environment for their bicycles.

Similar in size and dimensions to an international shipping container, the shelter is a lightweight steel frame with a skin of perforated metal planks, lending a cool industrial charm but also extremely practical if the University should have need to reposition the structure in the future.

Immediately popular with cyclists, the Secure Bicycle Storage Unit also drew the attention of the architectural profession, receiving the 2006 Colorbond Steel Award at the 2006 Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA) awards
