Psychology Research Interests

My research interest is in exploring the associations between general intelligence and psychological stress, mood, social support, and personality, in the context of investigating predictors of behavioural and biological health risk factors for chronic disease (e.g., physical inactivity; diet high in saturated fat; alcohol intake; cigarette smoking; abdominal and generalised obesity and overweight; high blood pressure; high blood cholesterol; and impaired glucose tolerance).

In my research, I’m particularly interested in (i) assessing the strength of relationships between general intelligence and behavioural and biological health risk factors for chronic disease; (ii) examining the associations between psychological stress and the prevalence of behavioural and biological health risk factors; (iii) exploring the associations between general intelligence and psychological stress; and (iv) modelling the associations between psychological stress, general intelligence, and health risk factors for chronic disease.
