Psychology Research Interests

My PhD research will explore the influence of traumatic brain injury (TBI) on the risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviour. Whilst some studies suggest there is an increased risk of serious suicidology following TBI, the prevalence and the mechanisms behind this phenomenon have not been established. Proposals range from psycho-social, neurobiological or genetic explanations, to a synergistic combination of each factor. Improved understanding will enhance awareness of individuals at an increased risk of suicidal behaviour, and assist clinicians design and undertake suicide prevention programs.
