Area of ResearchMy interests are in the area of Human-Animal Interaction research, Animal-Assisted Therapy and also animal welfare, behaviour, emotion and intelligence. My PhD project is investigating Animal-Assisted Therapy for people with dementia. The project has involved interviewing elderly people in Residential Aged Care Facilities, implementing and evaluating a Animal-Assisted Therapy program in the facility. The program has involved volunteer therapy dogs and their handlers visiting the facility for group Animal-Assisted Therapy sessions. Preliminary analysis of the data has revealed very promising results! I am aiming to complete my thesis in early 2010.
