Psychology Research Interests

I am particularly attracted to the study of Individual Differences in Human Cognitive Ability. I am interested in the formation of distinct cognitive abilities during childhood development and the degradation of these abilities in the elderly. I am also involved in various other research projects examining predictors of participation in cancer screening programmes, problematic video game playing, and mental illness in Australian adolescent youth.

Research Project

Current knowledge of human intellectual functioning almost exclusively reflects research which has involved visually presented tests. My project aims to explore whether currently identified cognitive abilities can be successfully indexed via auditory pathways (rather than visually).
