Prospective undergraduate applicants

All applications for undergraduate programs are processes through the South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre (SATAC).

School-leaver applicants

A school-leaver applicant is someone who:

  • is competing for entry to the Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) program on the basis of his/her performance in the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) Stage 2 examination or interstate/International Baccalaureate/overseas equivalent; and
  • does not have an academic record of study at a tertiary educational institution or has completed the equivalent of two years full-time or less at a tertiary education institution.

It is important to note that a person who returns to school or a re-entry college, etc. to undertake year 12 studies after having undertaken tertiary studies, does not gain the status of a school leaver applicant except where the withdrawal from tertiary studies has been sufficiently early in the program so that the applicant has completed two years or less of study.

Tertiary applicants

An applicant falls within the tertiary category if an academic result has been recorded at a higher education institution. Tertiary results can be used as a basis for selection when an applicant has completed at least one full semester of study.

Special Entry applicants

To be eligible for the Special Entry Scheme applicants:

  • must be over 21 years of age on or before 1 January 2007, and
  • must not hold a completed higher education level award, and
  • must not have been enrolled in a course leading to a higher education level award in 2005, 2006 or 2007.

Applicants under this Scheme sit for the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT), which is administered by SATAC.

Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants

Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people are also eligible to apply to The University of Adelaide via the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Access Scheme through the Centre for Australian Indigenous Research and Studies (CAIRS/Wilto Yerlo).

For further information and application forms can be found at Wilto Yerlo

Later year transfer

The School of Psychology may have limited places available in the second year or third year of the BPsych(Hons) program. Applicants wishing to transfer into second or third year should apply using the same method as for entry to first year.
