Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA)

AUQA is the principal national quality assurance agency in higher education with the responsibility of providing public assurance of the quality of Australia’s universities and other institutions of higher education, and assisting in enhancing the academic quality of these institutions.

Audit 2008

The second audit of the University of Adelaide took place in 2008. The University was first audited in 2002 during the first round of university audits conducted by AUQA.

In preparation for the 2008 audit the University submitted a Performance Portfolio to AUQA. The AUQA Audit Report, which included six commendations, nine affirmations and six recommendations, was published on 17 December 2008.

University of Adelaide Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor James McWha, welcomed the report and its endorsement of many significant steps the University was taking in its aim to become a leader in learning and teaching excellence.

In response to the AUQA audit report, the University prepared a detailed implementation plan outlining the actions to be taken in order to address the recommendations and affirmations. The Quality Enhancement Committee (QEC), a sub-committee of Academic Board, monitored progress on the implementation of actions taken to address the nine affirmations and six recommendations at its quarterly meetings throughout 2009 and 2010.

AUQA advised that the Progress Report submitted in March 2010 is satisfactory.

Although this concluded the University's formal reporting obligations to AUQA an updated Progress Report (March 2011) was subsequently approved by QEC.  Progress on the remaining outstanding action items will continue to be monitored by QEC as separate items.
