PACal 2012
On Thursday 27th September the University of Adelaide Radar Research Centre will be holding a small informal one-day workshop on Phased Array Calibration (PACal). The focus of this workshop will be the calibration of RF phased arrays with a particular emphasis on radar, GPS, EW and Radio Astronomy applications. Across the range of radio frequency bands there are a variety of techniques that are being used to calibrate arrays, ranging from using instrumented calibration signals to using targets of opportunity. The aim of the workshop is to exchange ideas and techniques specific to arrays rather than calibration techniques that are applied to single antenna systems. However we do include antennas where the feed is an array.
Confirmed speakers for the workshop are:-
Prof Douglas Gray: An Overview of some Signal Processing Techniques for Phased Arrays
Mr. Mathew Trinkle: Mutual Coupling Estimation for GPS Antenna Arrays in the Presence of Multipath
Prof Iain Reid and Joel Younger: Calibration Techniques for VHF Radars
Dr Jim Whittington: Accurate phase calibration for digital beamforming in the multi-transceiver TIGER-3 HF radar system"
Dr Jason Horridge: Spatial Calibration of an Audio Radar
Peter Ly: Look up Table Calibration Aperture ES Antenna Arrays
The workshop will be held at the University of Adelaide and will be fully catered, courtesy of the Adelaide Radar Research Centre.
Places at the workshop are limited and are restricted to researchers actively involved in phased arrays and in particular calibration issues. Please note that because of the limited number of places available it is important that a good justification for attending the workshop is provided
