The Institute is now seeking participation in the 2011 Travelling Fellowships program which will enable researchers who are actively engaged in an aspect of primary health care research to take one/some of the research outputs from their project, and visit an international ‘sister’ institution (e.g. the Health Services Management Centre at the University of Birmingham, the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation and The Robert Graham Center in Washington).

This program is not restricted to recipients of previous APHCRI funding. The research proposal will need to address a specific aspect of the current national health reform agenda.

All previous APHCRI funded researchers are encouraged to apply as are those researchers who have not previously received APHCRI funding. However, the Research Advisory Board is actively encouraging early to mid career researchers to develop collaborative networks with international institutions as capacity building in Australian primary health care research. To that end, applications from early to mid career researchers are strongly encouraged. The Research Advisory Board also encourages innovative partnership applications.

Eligibility
CARG provides funding for clinical and academic staff at Australian universities, transplant centres and research institutes. The objective of CARG is to provide ‘bridging’ grants to support novel Australian research projects that have yet to receive any form of funding.

Application to CARG requires submission of a three-page letter of intent (LOI). LOIs are reviewed and ranked by the CARG Committee, based on an evaluation of the following criteria:

  • Originality and relevance to clinical transplantation
  • Feasibility of the application – realistic objectives and achievable outcomes
  • Scientific excellence

After review, applicants with the eight top-ranked LOIs are invited to make full paper submissions.  As there are four grants available, this means that there is a 50% chance of funding for applications at this stage.

The NWF has funded projects ranging from supporting local communities to maintain or restore habitat; to the production of education kits; and the publication and widespread dissemination of research information essential to species preservation.

Projects that involve collaboration with a number of partners across a region are of special interest. These multi-stakeholder projects are the ones we believe are most likely to have a long term effect and to most widely spread knowledge and understanding. Academic applicants need to show how their research is directly linked to a community group doing conservation work. Research needs to be of benefit to those groups working on habitat or species conservation

There is no official maximum amount you can apply for in these small grants - but grants are usually between $5,000 and $10,000

Please note that there is a pre-application process prior to submitting a full application. Application Guidelines are available on the Foundation's website to assist with the submission process.
