The Australian Children's Television Foundation (ACTF) is a national, non profit organisation. It aims to provide Australian children with entertaining media made especially for them, which makes an enduring contribution to their cultural and educational experience. Australian children deserve to see local stories and their culture on their screens.

Projects may be based on an original idea, or adaptations of a novel or other work. We look for originality and new ideas not already in the marketplace or currently on television. If the project is an adaptation of someone else’s work (such as a novel, play, character or concept developed by one of the team), the applicant must obtain, or at least option, an assignment of all the necessary rights from the creator prior to making an application. All projects must primarily target the Australian child audience and must, in our opinion, be likely to be of interest to Australian children.

The purpose of this FOA is to encourage the submission of applications proposing to use human stem cells to develop methods for generating replacement cells and transplantation techniques for the treatment of ocular diseases and disorders. Studies may include elucidating the mechanisms required to direct stem cell differentiation into specialized ocular cell lineages. The regenerative application of human stem cells offers a promising way to restore lost vision due to injury and disease. Many of the leading causes of visual and ocular disorders are due in part to the loss of photoreceptors, inner retinal neurons, or corneal epithelial cells. Preliminary studies demonstrate that cell-based therapies may have the potential to treat ophthalmic diseases including corneal degeneration and inflammation, glaucoma, and vascular and neurodegenerative diseases of the retina.
This initiative will support basic and preclinical studies leading to the development of differentiated human stem cells for treating ocular diseases and disorders. Studies may include (1) elucidating the mechanisms required to direct stem cell differentiation into specialized ocular cell lineages, (2) developing methods for the generation of replacement ocular cells and tissues, and (3) identifying factors required for optimal transplantation of stem cell-derived lineages, resulting in functional regeneration.
Only studies using human stem cells, including embryonic stem cells (hESC), induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS), and adult stem cells, will be responsive to this announcement. All human ES cell lines proposed for these studies must be listed in the NIH Human Embryonic Stem Cell Registry. This program will not support animal stem cell research nor human clinical trials.
Funding
Applicants may request up to $250,000 annual direct costs. Application budgets need to reflect actual needs of the proposed project.

The Endangered Language Fund provides grants for language maintenance and linguistic field work. The work most likely to be funded is that which serves both the native community and the field of linguistics. Work which has immediate applicability to one group and more distant application to the other will also be considered. Publishing subventions are a low priority, although they will be considered. Proposals can originate in any country. The language involved must be in danger of disappearing within a generation or two. Endangerment is a continuum, and the location on the continuum is one factor in our funding decisions.
Eligibility
Researchers and language activists from any country are eligible to apply. Awards can be made to institutions, but no administrative (overhead, indirect) costs are covered.
Funding
Grants are normally for a one year period, though extensions may be applied for. They expect grants in this round to be less than $USD 4,000 in size, and to average about $USD 2,000.

Applicants can be at any experience level; in any discipline; and from any organization, including colleges and universities, government laboratories, research institutions, non-profit organizations and for profit companies.
The purpose of this request for letter of intent (RFLOI) is to solicit inquiries toward the development of a prototype and commercialization plan for an easy-to-use tool that rapidly assesses the immune status of children against selected vaccine- preventable diseases (e.g. tetanus, measles, etc.). The ideal tool would be low cost and easy to use in the fieldby those working in national immunization programs. This tool would be used as an adjunct to current vaccination coverage surveys to help more accurately determine and validate coverage levels and assess population-level immunity.
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is looking forward to receiving innovative ideas from around the world to develop an immunity assessment tool that can help more accurately measure vaccination coverage in the developing world.

The Center for the History of Collecting was established in 2007 to stimulate awareness and study of the formation of fine and decorative arts collections from Colonial times to the present, while asserting the relevance of this subject to art and cultural history. The Center’s academic and public programs provide a forum for thoughtful exchange that may expand and further stimulate scholarship in this discipline. Through its Fellowship Program, the Center seeks not only to encourage research on the history of collecting, but also to expand the field’s still limited body of literature.
For nine months, select political scientists, journalists, doctors, federal executives and international scholars gain "hands on" understanding of the legislative process by serving on congressional staffs. Through this unique opportunity, the Association enhances public understanding of policy-making and improves the quality of scholarship, teaching and reporting on American national politics.
The Center offers short-term Junior fellowships (8–10 weeks) for graduate and pre-doctoral students and Senior fellowships (8–10 weeks) for post-doctoral and senior scholars. In addition the Center offers long-term (4–5 months) Leon Levy Fellowships for post-doctoral and senior scholars. In all cases preference will be given to researchers whose projects are particularly appropriate to the resources available at the Frick Art Reference Library.
Two short-term fellowships will be granted for Summer/Fall 2012 (June–October), one to a junior (pre-doctoral) scholar, and one to a senior (post-doctoral) scholar. Long-term Leon Levy Fellowships (one academic semester) will be granted for Summer/Fall 2012.
Eligibility
Fellowship proposals may address wide-ranging aspects of the history of collecting in the United States, from Colonial times to the present, and may focus on individual collectors, dealers, developments or trends in the art market. Interdisciplinary research subjects are especially encouraged. Applicants may come from the academic or museum worlds, or from other relevant professional backgrounds. They may be full- or part-time students, full- or part-time employees, or independent art historians, historians, and/or curators. Applicants may be residents of any country.
Funding
Each short-term fellowship for a junior scholar is $USD 5,000. Each short-term fellowship for a senior scholar is $USD 10,000. Each long-term Leon Levy Fellowship is $USD 25,000 per semester (with a maximum of two semesters) and is supplemented with travel funds up to $USD 1,250 (per semester) for brief research trips during the fellowship period.
Submission
It is a standard requirement for applicants to submit a hardcopy of finalised proposals to the Research Branch by the internal due date, accompanied by a completed and signed hardcopy of the University's Grant Application Coversheet.

As part of Birds Australia's commitment to ornithological research and conservation, we manage the annual Stuart Leslie Bird Research Award. The Award was established in 1997 by Mr Stuart Leslie, AM, who was one of Birds Australia's long-time major donors and a keen bird watcher. Applications for the Stuart Leslie Bird Research Award are now being accepted. Two types of awards are available:
1. Research Award: to support post-graduate research
2. Conference Award: to enable attendance at scientific conferences
Funding
Typically, grants of between $500 and $5000 are awarded for research projects and up to $1000 for conferences. Grants for research projects are renewable for 2-3 years, provided satisfactory progress is made and reporting requirements are met. Preference is given to supporting researchers at an early stage of their research program.
Eligibility
Only submit one application for a Research Award as the Stuart Leslie Bird Research Award and Professor Allen Keast Research Award are assessed simultaneously. Applications unrelated to native Australian birds are not eligible.
Post-graduate students (including honours) from a range of institutions around Australia are eligible for funding. Students must be studying at an Australian institute and grants are awarded on the strict understanding that funds will be exempt from institutional administration charges. Applications in the following areas are encouraged:
