About Us

The Research Branch assists the University in achieving its goal of international distinction by providing quality advice and support to University researchers and their sponsors and contributing to the development of a University environment that facilitates and recognises high quality research.

The Research Branch forms part of the Division of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research).

For Researchers & the University Community

 
  • Act as principal liaison for researchers, external sponsors and other administrative sections on pre and post award matters
  • Administer and assist with the grant application process to ensure applications are of high quality and comply with sponsor guidelines
  • Maintain an understanding of national and international competitive grant opportunities and alert University researchers to these
  • Facilitate and coordinate the University's research publications data collection
  • Coordinate major University Research grant bids (eg. Centres, infrastructure)
  • Arrange competitive grant scheme advisory and training sessions
  • Provide resources, advice and assistance for research ethics (animal and human) and compliance (gene technology and quarantine) obligations
  • Manage administrative requirements and provide secretarial support for the Animal Ethics Committee, Human Research
  • Ethics Committee and the Institutional Biosafety Committee
  • Manage compliance with research-related legislation
  • Act as a focal point for advice, information and support on research-related issues
  • Organise sponsor visits and workshops
  • Provide a library of successful research grant applications for researchers to view or copy

 


For External Clients & Sponsors

 
  • Act as principal contact on behalf of researchers on pre and post award matters
  • Organise sponsor visits and workshops
  • Provide input to sponsors and Government on policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Undertake collection, analysis and evaluation of research performance information to meet statutory and other reporting requirements
