ARC Progress Reports
Commencing in 2013, Progress Reporting for all active ARC-funded projects (except LP - APAI only) is by exception.
All Progress Reporting must be completed by 31 March 2013 (ARC’s deadline). Reporting is not required for Projects which have been underway for less than one year or which are in their final year of available funds.
Prior to reporting, please read the Exception Report Guidance, Exception Report Instructions and the notes on page 1 of the Exception Report template. These documents outline the specific circumstances under which a Exception Report should be submitted. An Exception Report on Progress must be submitted only if there are significant issues affecting the progress of a project.
Exception Reports must be submitted electronically (RTF or PDF) format to the ARC via the Research Office of the Administering Organisation.
Further information regarding the details of the changes to ARC Progress Reporting is available by downloading the following documents:
- 2012 Progress Reporting: Guidance on reporting by Exception
- Progress Reporting Instructions

If an Exception by Report is to be submitted, it must be accompanied with a signed Internal Signature/Carry Forward form both electronically emailed to arcgrants@adelaide.edu.au by 28 February 2013.
If you don’t consider that a Progress Report is required for your project, you will be required to notify the Research Branch by email to arcgrants@adelaide.edu.au by 28 February 2013 confirming that a Progress Report is not required for your project.
Carry-Over of ARC Funds
Carry Forwards are required for each year when the ARC funds allocated for a particular year have not been fully spent and are to be "carried forward" to the next year. Chief Investigators should consult with their School Finance Officer to see if ARC funds are likely to be unspent at year end. If so, a Carry Forward request will be necessary.
The Research Branch Internal Signature/Carry Forward form allows researchers to request a carry forward and nominate reason and/or provide further detail if necessary.
The completed and signed form needs to be submitted to the Research Branch via email to arcgrants@adelaide.edu.au by 28 February 2013.
This form needs to be submitted for all carry forward requests regardless if a Progress report by exception is required.
If a Progress report by exception is required, please submit along with the Internal/Signature Carry Forward form.
Linkage Projects with Australian Postgraduate Award Industry (APAI)
The APAI must complete a separate APAI Report available from the ARC website (below). No electronic copy of the APAI Report is required but a hard-copy, signed and dated by the APAI, Supervisor and Head of School must be forwarded to the Research Branch by 28 February 2013 with the Progress report by exception report if applicable.
Please download the Linkage Projects – APAI Progress Report form below and send the original signed hard copy to the Research Branch by the due date above.
