• The Adelaide Cancer Research Institute (ACRI) is a research initiative focussing on understanding cancer systems biology, cancer treatment and clinical applications.
• The Environment Institute focusses on the most serious environmental challenges facing Australia and the world. The Environment Institute will bring together expertise in water, climate change, economics, marine research, energy technology, natural resource management and ancient DNA.
• The Institute for Mineral and Energy Resources (IMER) focusses on major technical, economic, environmental and social issues. The Institute will address the complex research challenges faced by the mineral and energy sectors, and help provide the skills and consulting services needed by these industries.
• The Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing focusses on the design, fabrication, development and application of soft glass microstructured optical fibres that underpin health, the environment, industrial processes and defence systems.
• The Robinson Institute focusses on research that significantly advances medical science relating to reproductive health, stem cell research & early origins of health & disease.
• The Waite Research Institute focusses on plant & animal sciences, viticulture and oenology, agronomy, soil science and agricultural economics.
