Cooperative Research Centres (CRCs)

The CRC Programme funds collaborations between researchers and industry to improve the effectiveness of Australia's research and development effort.

Because all CRCs are now incorporated entities, mostly with large numbers of participants, the role of Universities in CRCs has evolved to the point where they are now effectively providing specific research services to the CRCs. Consequently, the preferred mode of engagement of the University with the Round 10 CRCs should be as a research contractor to the CRC company (on a project by project basis) rather than as a participant bound by the Participant's Agreement as a formal partner in the CRC.

However, in those cases where involvement by the University as a core or supporting participant in a round 10 CRC application is proposed, applications for Stage 1 of the selection process are due in Research Branch on 24 March 2006 for sign-off by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research).

Prior to that, the Expression of Interest proforma and associated Cost: Benefit Analysis & Data Input Sheet must be submitted (through the Head of School and Executive Dean) to Lynette Kelly by Monday 27 February 2006. (NB: this documentation must be provided regardless of whether the University of Adelaide is the lead institution or a core or supporting participant).
