Radiation Safety

The University requires that all necessary radiation licensing and registration information pertaining to a grant-funded research project is advised on the Research Grant Acceptance form

This is because it is a condition of many grant sponsors (and a University OH&S requirement) that research involving the use of ionising radiation be carried out under the supervision of appropriately licensed persons. In many cases funding sponsors will not release funds until the necessary licenses have been obtained.

Under current University Policy, Chief Investigators of research projects involving the use of ionizing radiation are responsible for ensuring that they hold an appropriate radiation license from the EPA and that if necessary, those under their supervision hold or obtain an appropriate radiation licence.

Please contact your Discipline Radiation Safety Officer who will advise you on what licences, registrations, or training you may require.

Further information can also be obtained from the OH&S website or from the University's Radiation Safety Officer, Dr Gerald Laurence Ph: 08 8379 6839 or Mobile 0411 444 895
