Policy Changes

The following details the major policy changes that have been made to the Australia Fellowship scheme for funding commencing in January 2010:

  • Since international and Australian funding calendars may not be synchronised, and to encourage international applicants, the policy relating to international applicants has been adjusted to enable them to apply at any time in the funding year.
    • EOI will be accepted from international applicants at any time during the 2009 funding year.
    • EOI from international applicants will be peer reviewed by the Australia Fellowship Review Panel (AFRP); and
    • full applications will then be invited from international applicants deemed to be competitive by the AFRP.
    • these full applications may be subject to an accelerated peer review process, however, international applicants will be judged to the same standards as applicants from Australia.
    • international applicants are those that hold at least a 50% appointment at a non-Australian institution during the 12 months prior to the submission of their EOI.
  • Selection of applicants for interview will be finalised following the submission of the full application.
