Higher Education Research Data Collection (HERDC)
HERDC is the annual collection of statistics from Australian universities about research output and income. It is currently collected by the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research.

The statistics are used by the government to allocate funding under the following schemes:
- Institutional Grants Scheme (IGS)
- Research Training Scheme (RTS)
- Research Infrastructure Block Grants Scheme (RIBG)
- Australian Postgraduate Awards
- Commercialisation Training Scheme (2007 onwards)
- International Postgraduate Research Scholarships Scheme
The collection only accepts publications of the following types:
- Book (A1)
- Book chapter (B1)
- Journal article (C1)
- Conference publication (E1)
Income is collected where it fits within the definitions provided for four groups:
- Australian Competitive Grants
- Other Public Sector Research Income
- Industry and Other Research Income
- Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) Research Income
