Guidelines and Rules for Responsible Research Practice
The University of Adelaide's Responsible Conduct of Research Policy was formally approved by the Vice-Chancellor & President on 14 August 2009. This Policy applies to all staff, students and affiliates of the University of Adelaide who are involved in research practice associated with the University. Compliance with the code is a prerequisite for receipt of National Health and Medical Research Council and Australian Research Council funding.
The Policy formally adopts the principles embodied in the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research (the Code) and needs to be read in conjunction with the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research (2007).
The code was jointly developed by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), The Australian Research Council (ARC) and Universities Australia. The Code has broad relevance across all research disciplines. It replaces the joint NHMRC/AVCC Statement and Guidelines on Research Practices (1997).
For funding received from the United States Public Health Services (PHS) compliance with the PHS Policies on Research Misconduct 42CFR Part 93 is also a prerequisite. The University compiles an annual report on research misconduct within PHS awards to the US Office of Research Integrity (ORI), however on notification of any research misconduct within PHS awards ORI will be notified immediately.
