The records of the lease of University lands include details of the length of lease, original and subsequent lessees, rent payable and date (Gale days), amounts paid and date. The Act of Incorporation (no. 20 of 1874) provided the University with an endowment of 50,000 acres of country land. The land was re-purchased by the government in 1915.
