The returns by the Registrar (at the request of Government) record the names of lessees, rent per acre, lessees surrendering leases and value of improvements. The 1883 return is printed as Parliamentary Paper 120/1884. The Act of Incorporation (no. 20 of 1874) provided the University with an endowment of 50,000 acres of country land. The land was re-purchased by the government in 1915.
