Report of the Working Party on Decision-Making Structure [Michaels Report]

This item contains references to: The Michael's Report formally called the Report of The Working Party On Decision-Making Structures at Roseworthy Agricultural College. The report was the result of a condition of the Government for providing financial support for the College overdraft. The Working Party was chosen from the College Council and the chairperson was to be an employee of the College and include the Executive Officer - Finance HPC Trumble. The chairperson was L Michael, and the other members, D B Williams and F.W. Barnden and three other staff members. The terms of reference was to review the existing decision-making structure of the College, from Council to selection level, and to recommend changes. The Working Party should give consideration to the framework embracing all College functions - teaching, research and service - and covering all levels of activity - policy formulation and review, management and administration and operation

The articles are on Roseworthy Agricultural College the 1942 Season and Farming results, The trend of Agriculture in Australia Today, The Struggle for Markets and the Survival of The Efficient with special reference to the dairy industry, Studies in the Summer Feeding of Lambs, The Place of Livestock in Present Day Agriculture and The Horse Population in South Australia. There are photography of the farm from the era. There are three earlier editions with the same type of layout. The articles are by Roseworthy Staff with photographs of the College and maps, the 1937-38 has photos of breads from different grain by E J Breakwell.

The Roseworthy Agricultural College South Australia Book

This is a photocopy of a book with RAC crest on the cover. There is a brief history of the College to 1906 including the teaching staff and student numbers. Objects of the Institution is the second part of the book. The third covers the description of the College and its equipment. The fourth Conditions of Admission gives clear instructions about exam times and the forms required. The rest of the book is made up of photographs with the main building and students (no names or year). The remained of the photos are of the farm and each aspect of its work, all the work is carried out by man and horse. The book was wrapped in a photocopy of The Student with the Wine Cellars and Cowbyres and Silo from three angles, no date.

The report is a response to the South Australian Department of Environment and Planning concerns for the state of native vegetation. The State Government in 1980 introduced the Vegetation Retention Scheme. Three years later the State Government implemented the provisions for landowners to gain permission to clear native vegetation in 1983. This was followed by the Native Vegetation Management Act of 1985.
