Its role was to "ensure that the financial implications of academic decisions are fully investigated and assessed", to be responsible for the University's triennial submissions to the Universities Commission, and to coordinate the activities of the various Ways and Means Committees, including Departmental Staffing, Equipment and Maintenance, Grounds Buildings and Accommodation, Research and Publications, and Services Staffing. Matters which come under discussion are diverse, and include items such as departmental funding, scholarships, academic travel and exchanges, a Protein Sequencing Unit, the building program, teaching hospitals, AMEB, Martindale Hall, funding applications etc. At the end 1980 the committee was wound up and its functions transferred to the Executive Committee which was proposed for the following year. |
