The Computing Centre was established in 1961, and the Committee was formed to undertake the administration of the Centre. The records consist of the Committee's minutes and related papers. Minutes of the first meeting of the Committee are not held in this series, but are contained in a bound volume from Series 22, Special Committees Minutes.
The Computing Centre Committee was reconstituted in 1974 as the Computing Committee, with a new basis of membership. Reconstituted again in 1986, after an Interim Computing Committee in 1985, it continued until 1991. At the end of this year it was superceded by a University Information Technology Committee.
