In 1974, it was proposed to merge the Adelaide College of Advanced Education with the South Australian Institute of Technology in order to extend the academic boundaries of the ACAE by establishing a Centre for Language Teaching and provide a range of vocational courses. The site proposed for this expansion was the East End Market. The records of this series consist of the minutes and papers of the Joint Steering Committee set up to oversee the amalgamation, the minutes and papers of the City Academic Committee which acted as a sub-committee of the Joint Steering Committee and advised on academic requirements and priorities, and the minutes of the East End Development Steering Committee.
