Description

In 1961, the Department of Immigration refused to grant a visa to Israeli-born Mr. Yehojachin Brenner who had been appointed to the academic staff of the University of Adelaide as a history lecturer. The records include news cuttings of the ensuing debate in the press over the issue along with statements and correspondence from the University, a copy of a speech given by the Minister of Immigration, Hon. A. Downer, a transcript of an edition of 'Meet the Press' and correspondence from members of the general public expressing their views.
