In 1989, a committee was appointed by Council to review the governance of the University. It was chaired by Emeritus Professor Peter Karmel. The Final Report was based on 98 submissions received from members of the University and other interested parties. The report discusses the areas of governance and management, the role of University office holders and the composition and role of committees and makes 32 recommendations.
The records consist of the working files of the Registrar, F.J. O'Neill, who was Secretary to the Committee, the submissions and the Final Report. They also include papers of the subsequent Governance Implementation Committee.
