John Anderson Hartley was Vice-Chancellor from 1893 until his death in 1896. A Committee was formed to create a Memorial Fund with the object of establishing a Scholarship to 'enable boys and girls to proceed from the State Schools through the Colleges or Secondary Schools to the University'. The records include committee papers, subscription cards and correspondence relating to the Fund.
