This series contains records collated by Victor Allen Edgeloe between the years 1945 and 1965. These records contain information on fees, scholarships and bursaries, medical course enrolments and administration, higher degree enrolments, memorial fund donations, the Commonwealth Reconstruction Training Scheme (CRTS) and general financial statements.

Medical Post Graduate Courses 1946 / 1947 / 1948

The file contains lists of students in postgraduate medical courses for the years 1946-8, with fees payable; correspondence from postgraduate candidates regarding fees and examinations. It also contains notes of the Postgraduate Committee in Medicine regarding forthcoming courses for the years 1947-8 (24 Sept 47) and 1948-9 (13 Aug 48), with related circulars, signed by JM Bonnin, Medical Secretary, plus related correspondence from students. There are student lists and fees payable for Weekend Courses in Medicine, 1947, plus correspondence and memos related to courses, attendance and fees paid.

The folder contains medical student lists for the years 1946-1948, noting student bursaries, "Australian Universities Commission", "Commonwealth Reconstruction Training Scheme" and other points of student status. Note is also made where students' academic career has been interrupted (presumably for many due to the war). A memo of 17th September 1945 notes that 3rd, 5th and 6th year students would have an extra term added to the current year of their study.

Medical Students Fees - Records 1945-1949 - Fees Hon Staff etc

The file contains lists of students and fees payable, including fees for Honorary Staff at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Separate lists are made of fees payable for Hospital Practice by physiotherapy students. Note is made of student bursaries, "Australian Universities Commission", "Commonwealth Reconstruction Training Scheme" and other points of student status. For each year a list is made of Honorary Staff - Anaesthetists. For 1948 and 1947 there are lists of amounts payable by students to the Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science for Bacteriology Material. For 1948 there is a list of fees due from 4th year medical students for Entrance and Dental instruction at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Medical Course Hospital Fees, etc 1957-1965

A small note pinned to the original cardboard folder itemises the Medical Course Fees for 1960. It includes reference to the Commonwealth Scholarship. The file contains multiple copies of the 4th year student list for 1965, and of the 6th year student list for 1966. It also contains lists of students and fees payable for all the years of the date range. Fees are itemised as Honorary Staff Fees, Fees for Clinical Practice, et al. Dental Course students and fees are separately listed, as are physiotherapy course fees. Some pages contain miscellaneous notes and/or financial calculations. A letter of the 20th December 1956 discusses amendment of certain sections of the University Calendar, regarding fees payable by medical students for clinical instruction.

Statements of Estimated Fees etc. for Budget 1959-1964

The file contains estimates of enrolments and student fees to be received (itemised by faculty or board of studies) and extrapolated budgetary information. A memo regarding student fees for 1962 is made from the Chief Clerk - Finance to the Assistant Registrar - Academic. The file also contains correspondence regarding staff development (request for an extra clerk); "answers to questionnaire relating to Student Loan Fund"; information about bank charges; a memo about enrolment procedures; a 1959 set of figures forming a "suggested basis for increased fees". One item, headed "University Commission re Subsidy" relates to the years 1946-1947 and subsidies for fees.

Lists of Higher Degree Candidates / Commonwealth Post-Graduate Scholarships etc

This item contains lists of fees payable for a range of different scholarship types, including CSIRO studentships, URG Research Scholars, Commonwealth Postgraduate Scholars, USPHS Research Fellows, Rothmans Fellowships, Colombo Plan Scholars, Malayan Government Scholars, ICIANZ Scholarships, British Commonwealth Scholars, et al, and other categories of postgraduate funding, including self-funded and employees of departments. Tables provided by the Research Executive Committee list individual research students, fees due, and the various forms of finance available to individuals. Minutes of Research Executive Committee meetings are included, as well as memoranda from the registrar to various departments regarding individual students, scholarships and grants-in-aid. The file also contains items of correspondence between the registrar and various funding bodies. Allocations of grants-in-aid are also tabulated. Some pages contains miscellaneous notes and calculations. Folder 2 also includes a brochure outlining "Postgraduate Scholarhsips and Fellowships (and Honours Year Awards) Available to Support Study within the University", as at May 1963.

Commonweath Reconstruction Training Scheme - Equipment - Statements 1947-1948

This item contains memos outlining the issue of Commonwealth funds made available to universities for purchasing approved Reconstruction Training equipment. Difficulties with long delivery times from overseas suppliers raised the question of whether such items, which might take up to two years to arrive, really could be viewed as contributing to Reconstruction Training, and therefore whether the Commonwealth was responsible for payment. Consequently, universities were asked to submit reimbursement claims promptly for equipment already received, and to provide detailed statements of equipment on order but not yet received.

The item therefore also contains equipment accounts and position summaries, detailing orders made, payment status, total estimated expenditure, etc, on a department by department basis. Supplementary lists outline items required, estimated costs etc. Correspondence from departments, relating to their expenditure of allotted funds, is also present.

This item contains a summary by department of the University's estimated expenditures on equipment under the Commonwealth Reconstruction Training Scheme. This is followed by each department's list of items required, including description and estimated cost. Departments are listed alphabetically: Anatomy and Histology; Bacteriology; Biochemistry; Botany; Chemistry; Engineering; Geology; Pathology; Physics; Physiology; Zoology.. For the first four listed departments, from Anatomy and Histology to Botany, further information is recorded, including supplier, actual cost, and accounts information. Finally, there are some Special Service items for Engineering.

Near the back of the book is a page entitled CRTS Supplementary Lists submitted Nov 1948. Only one item is listed on this page.

This item is a scrapbook with one title on one cover, and the other title on the other cover.

Commonwealth Reconstruction Training Scheme:
This item begins with a summary by department of the University's estimated expenditures on equipment under the Commonwealth Reconstruction Training Scheme, as at October 1946. Departments are listed alphabetically: Anatomy and Histology; Bacteriology; Biochemistry; Botany; Chemistry; Geology; Pathology; Physics; Physiology; Zoology. The summary notes: "This does not include equipment required in the Faculty of Engineering." This is followed by a list, containing two entries, entitled Dockets Relating to CRTS Equipment. Each department's list of items required is then outlined, including description, estimated cost, supplier, actual cost and accounts information. At the bottom of each of these lists is written "See New Book". Pinned to page 74 is a piece of correspondence from HH Davis of the Mechanical Engineering Department to Mr Bampton, regarding his department's requirements.

Concert Accounts:
This part of the item contains administrative information regarding concerts in the Elder Conservatorium; syllabi of concerts for 1934, 1935, 1936 and 1937; accounts information regarding sales for various concerts.
