| Description | The Academic Board is a standing committee of Council, and acts as an advisory committee to Council and the Vice-Chancellor on academic policy matters of University-wide importance, with some delegated decision-making functions. The Vice-Chancellor may bring issues to the Board for discussion, but the Convener is generally the initiator of Board business. Terms of reference, approved by Council in 1998, state that the Board: i] gives advice to Council on any academic policy matter. ii] initiates debate, and give advice to the Vice-Chancellor and Council, on broad issues of importance to the academic life of the University community. iii] receives academic and educational policy issues from the Vice-Chancellor or the Vice-Chancellor's Committee for discussion and review, and for the provision of advice to the Vice-Chancellor. The series contains minutes, agenda, indexes, discussion papers and reports. |
