| Description | The records consist of the examination results for MBBS (1912-1945), MB (1905-1919) and BDS (1920-1943). Also included is a set of medical examination papers for May 1928, with two papers for 1929 and one for 1930. There are also applications for registration forms dated 14 May 1919 accompanied by a list of students for preliminary examinations in 1919 indicating subjects taken from 1914 to 1918. There are printed "Certificates of Registration as a Medical Student", dated, signed and sealed from the General Medical Council, London (1886-1918) and two booklets entitled "Report on Exceptional Cases and on The Approval of Certain Recognised Teaching Institutions" dated November 1910. Included also are receipts from medical students for certificates received (1894-1922). |

Certificates of Registration as a Medical Student
Printed "Certificates of Registration as a Medical Student", dated, signed and sealed, received completed from the General Medical Council, London. The forms are arranged in alphabetical order, their date rage 1886 to 1918. This package also contains several specimen forms entitled "Application for Registration as a Medical Student"; two signed receipts dated 8/3/1922 and 14/7/1924; along with 48 printed "Certificate to accompany the application of Medical Students of Indian, Colonial and Foreign Universities and Colleges.." wich are unused.

Receipts from Medical Students fo Certificates Received
Written in long-hand on a variety of paper sizes, all dated and signed, folded and in an envelope. The receipts are not in any obvious order; the date range is from 1894 to 1901. Within this envelope was another envelope with a block of ten U.K. stamps, this contained printed receipts forms, signed and dated, the range from 1896 to 1922. We also have a single sheet that outlines marks allocated for subjects at M.B. Examinations - year one to year five. The sheet is torn (right hand corner) and has been placed into a trnsparent plastic envelope.

MB Examination Results 1905 to 1919
The results of each year's examinations are described on one sheet of paper, noted in free-hand script, using black and red inks, each sheet measuring in size 33.5 cm x 47.5 cm. Each listing name of student; subjects; marks allocated to each subject and the total mark. Also listing names of students receiving first, second and third class honours; names of students who have failed; and names of students sitting for suplimentary examinations. Also notes all awards and/or recommendations for Elder Prize, the Dr. Davies thomas Scholarship, the Dr. Charles Gosse Medal, and The Everard Scholarship. We note that in 1908 there are lists of Students - Entries for M.B. Examination for years one through to five seperately from Examination Results and that in 1911 there are attached loose leafs noting students names designating receipt of first, second and third class honours.

Report on Exceptional Cases and on the Approval of Certain Recognised Teaching Institutions
The booklets are identical, marked confidential, issued by the Students' Registration Committee and titled "Report on Exceptional Cases, and on The Approval of Certain Recognised Teaching Institutions", dated November 1910. Reporting that the following applications have been made to the Committee either for exceptional registration as Students, or for the antedating of the commencement of Professional Study, and that the Committee have dealt with these applications in the manner indicated. The Contents lists the following headings - Medical Business; Dental Business; and Applications for the Approval of Certain Recognised Teaching Institutions.

The results of each year's examinations are described on one sheet of paper, noted in free-hand script, using black and red inks, each sheet measuring in size 33.5 cm x 47.5 cm. Each listing name of student; subjects; marks allocated to each subject and the total mark. Also listing names of students receiving first, second and third class honours; names of students who have failed; and names of students sitting for suplimentary examinations. We note that in 1921 no prizes or scholarships were awarded throughout the five years. In 1922 a separate sheet lists first year to fourth year, selected students examination results dated March of that year; with another sheet from Board of Examiners with permission for application for Supplimentary Examinations, signed by the Chairman and a further two loose pages listing student names/subjects both signed by the Chairman. From 1923 examinations continue through to Year six.

Arranged in alphabetical order the Forms of Application for Registration as a Medical Student are all dated 14 May, 1919. The forms are accompanied by an alphabetical list of students for Preliminary Examinations in 1919, the list indicates subjects taken by students from 1914 to 1918.

BDS Examination Results 1920 to 1943
The results of each year's examinations are described on one sheet of paper, noted in free-hand script, using black and red inks, each sheet measuring in size 34 cm x 30 cm. Each sheet listing name of student; subjects; marks allocated to each subject and the total mark. Also listed are the names of students receiving first, second and third class honours; the names of students who have failed; and the names of students sitting for suplimentary examinations. In 1920 the course is to year three; from 1921 until 1931 course extends to year four. From 1932 to 1934 fourth year entitled 'fifth'; 1935 reverts to four years; then 1936 is five years, with 1937 again reverting to four years. From 1938 course extends to five years without interuption. In the same year a student is recommended for the Dental Association Prize whilst no other prizes or scholarships are recorded throughout.

Medical Examination Papers
Contained within a University of Adelaide envelope labeled in long-hand script - "Medical Examination Papers, May 1928". Within this envelope there are fifteen individual envelopes containing examination questions, each labeled in long-hand, indicating subject, date and examination room ; some envelopes only indicate the subject. Subjects covered are; Surgery - first and second papers; Gynaecology - first andsecond papers; Medicine - first and second papers; Obstetrics - first and second papers; Psychological Medicine; and, Forensic Medicine. We note that all papers are from 1928 apart from one set of Medicine - first and second papers dated May 1929 and another paper in Medicine dated May 1930.

One sheet listing Examinations Results for March. Whilst the records for 1945 cover only Years two and three. There are two loose sheets attached in this year: one is a break up of marks for Special Examination in Biochemistry - Second Examination for the degrees of M.B.B.S. the second sheet is a note to certify a student's pass in an Oral Examination in Clinical Biochemistry.
