Description

The series consists of records relating to various scholarships collated by the Registrar's Office. They include correspondence with the State Government regarding the transfer of the grant for the South Australian Scholarship which was discontinued after 1886 to be used for the foundation of the Medical School. There is also correspondence and blank forms relating to the Elder Scholarship to the Royal College of Music (1894-1908) including a letter from Frank Pownall, Registrar of the Royal College of Music which details Sir Thomas Elder's conditions for the scholarship. There are copies of the statutes and proposed amendments for the John Howard Clark Scholarship (1910) and correspondence, notes and complete applications for the British Council Scholarship (1946-1948) and the Carnegie Fellowship (1946).

Elder Scholarship (Royal College of Music)

Folder 1 includes correspondence and blank application forms and blank examiner reports. There is a letter from Frank Pownall, Registrar of the Royal College of Music which details Sir Thomas Elder's conditions for the scholarship.

Folder 2 contains lists of candidates for 1899, 1902 and 1908 with individual medical and birth certificates attached for 1902 and 1908.
