| Description | This series consists of minutes and working papers of the Waite Committee, Waite Staff Committee, Heads of Departments, and Waite Policy Committee meetings. The Staff Committee was established in 1950 by the Institute's Director, Professor Prescott, with membership consisting of Heads of Departments, staff-elected officers and the Secretary. The aim of the meetings was to keep staff informed of work being carried out within different sections of the Institute. From 1955, Heads of Departments meetings were the main forums for discussion of internal policy and management issues. In 1971, the Waite Institute Policy Committee was established to deal primarily with research planning and coordination at the Institute, so that the existing Heads of Departments Committee could concern itself with other matters more directly affecting departments. |
