This item is a collection of research material for Workplace Change in South Australia Local Government. There are 8 cassette tapes of interviews; Minutes of the Steering Committee; Information from the Local Government areas; completed survey forms; background material for undertaking with focus groups and surveys. There are no final reports but there are drafts of the final report. The research was undertaken by Barbara Pocock.

These papers include correspondence. In 1997 it was announced that the Labour Studies deaprtment would be abolished and Labour Studies Staff would be drawn into the Politics Department. The Department commenced a national and international campaign with colleagues and students to save the course. The outcome was to establish the Department of Social Inquiry, and the establishment of the Research Centre for Labour Studies, which was later named the Don Dunstan Foundation.

In October 1990 the Centre for Labour Studies received a grant from the Mining and Quarrying Occupational Health and Safety Committee for the research, development and presentation of a basic Occupational Health and Safety Training Program for the South Australian Mining and Quarrying industry. Included here are the following project materials: 25 audio tapes entitled Talking Health and Safety Action in Quarries; 3 video tapes (VHS, beta and a master tape called Heavy Rock which runs for 23 minutes); a copy of the Final Report - an Executive Summary; a further report (dated 1994) entitled Extension of Breaking New Ground; copies of the April and May 1994 editions of QuarrySAfe Newsletter (which was published as part of the project).
