| Details Agency Controlling; A6 Council Predecessor Agency/Agencies: A90 Professorial Board A21 Faculty of Law(s) A22 Faculty of Medicine Administrative History; Permanent Boards of Examiners were extablished under Statute Chapter X, "Of the Faculties", allowed December 1886. They were established for each Faculty and consisted of the Professors and lecturers in the subject of the course of the Faculty, together with "such examiners as may be appointed by the Council" (with examiners in Law subject to approval by the Judges of the Supreme Court). No significant change has been made to the Statute as it relates to the Board of Examiners. Prior to the establishment of the Boards of Examiners under this Statute, the examining function for arts and Science were conducted by the Professorial Board. In July 1878 an Additional Examiners Committee appointed by Council on 28 June recommended the appointment of additional Examiners on the nomination of the Professorial Board. The recommendations referred to an Examining Boars, presumably constituted by all the Examiners for the examinations, and were adopted by Council on 26 July. Additional Examiners were appointed annually thereafter, but reported as "Board of Examiners for -------" only from February 1883. Boards of Examiners were established for the Faculties of Law and Medicine under the earlier Statutes setting up those Faculties, in 1883 and 1885 respectively. |
