The Chancellor's Committee was established by motion at a University Council meeting on the 31st of July, 2000. Its membership included the Chancellor, Deputy Chancellor, VC, Academic Board Convenor, Audit and Compliance Committee Convenor, Finance Committee Convenor, Senior Salaries and Industrial Relations Committee Convenor, Student Affairs Committee Convenor, plus up to 2 nominated Council members.

Its terms of reference were to review matters coming before Council and advise Council; consider and advise on any matters referred to it by the Council or VC; monitor and review the operations and management of the University; and report to Council on its activities.

The Committee was later reconsituted as the Convenor's Committee.
