TRIM Upgrade Project
The TRIM Upgrade Project is a joint project involving University Archives, Records and Collections and Technology Services.
What will the project deliver?
- new TRIM client with improved installation process for users
- Streamlined training that is more focused on the needs of the majority of TRIM users
- A review of key business processes
- A new infrastructure
What are the benefits?

What is changing?

- When the TRIM client is installed there will be no requirement to decide on the level of integration with applications on your computer. Trim will install and then you will change the integration setting from within the application. The default integration setting will be “all off”
- To ensure we are aligned with state records recommendations, the TRIM project has defined a list of supported file types. Only these file types should be saved into Trim. The supported file types table is below:

There are no significant changes to the TRIM interface or internal processes.
What will I need to do?
- Ensure you have checked in all documents before midday, Friday October 19th
- Ensure any document queue that you use has been added to your Favourites
- Quit out of TRIM before midday, Friday October 19th
- Shut down your workstation when you leave work on Friday October 19th.
- When the installation is complete you will launch TRIM form All Programs ->HP TRIM. You may create shortcut on your desktop to the TRIM icon if desired.
- If you have integration with Office applications enabled you will need to re-enable this integration after the upgrade. Instructions on how to do this are located in the TRIM 6 to TRIM 7 changes document.
- Laptops - it is recommended that your laptop is connected to the University wired network on Monday to receive TRIM.

When is this happening?
It is planned that the upgrade to the new system and client will take place from the 19th October to the 22nd October.
