Future Research Leaders Program 2012

The 2012 workshop schedule for the Future Research Leaders Program is provided below. The program is only offered in the first semester this year, due to key staff being away on study leave in the second semester, but will be offered as usual in both semesters in 2013. 

Please click the links to enrol for the workshops of your choice. The workshops pivot around online material which you should review in advance. You will be given access / log-in details for the online material shortly after completing your enrolment.

Tuesday 13th March 12.30-4.30pm AGC Seminar Room Level 6, 115 Grenfell St Afternoon tea provided	Governance & Compliance: protecting yourself, your research & your university FRLP Module 3 As a researcher, you are bound by significant governance expectations. This module examines the context in which research operates and the requirements for research practice.  Register for workshop
Tuesday 27th March 12.30-4.30pm AGC Seminar Room Level 6, 115 Grenfell St Afternoon tea provided	Research Strategy & Planning FRLP Module 1  Effective research must be carefully planned to achieve the best outcomes. This module explores the links between your university's overall research strategy, your own research, the scoping and conceptualising of the project prior to the research commencing and research project management. Tuesday 24th April  12.30-4.30pm AGC Seminar Room Level 6, 115 Grenfell St Afternoon tea provided	Commencement & Collaboration: putting ideas into practice FRLP Module 2 This module explores the start up of a research project, giving you the opportunity to put your ideas into practice. It aims to illustrate approaches that can be applied to projects regardless of discipline or scope. Register for workshop
Tuesday 1st May  12.30-4.30pm AGC Seminar Room Level 6, 115 Grenfell St Afternoon tea provided	Project Close Out FRLP Module 8 A good project close out and review process is dependent on having had good processes for setting goals, priorities, project definitions, scope, schedules and budgets as well as having effective controls for monitoring and tracking changes during the life of the project.  Register for workshop
Tuesday 5th June 12.30-4.30pm AGC Seminar Room Level 6, 115 Grenfell St Afternoon tea provided	Financial Resource & Risk Management FRLP Module 5 As a future research leader you will need to exercise financial control over your projects. This module will assist you in becoming financially literate and will provide you with a clear understanding of the financial processes associated with research projects. Register for workshop
Tuesday 15th May 12.30-4.30pm AGC Seminar Room Level 6, 115 Grenfell St  Afternoon tea provided	Grant & Contract Administration FRLP Module 6 Winning a research grant or contract is a real buzz! However there are fundamental administrative requirements that need addressing to ensure success in achieving stated outcomes and managing the administration of your grant. This module has been designed to provide practical assistance to research leaders. Register for workshop
Tuesday 22nd May 12.30 noon - 4.30pm AGC Seminar Room Level 6, 115 Grenfell St afternoon tea provided	Intellectual Property & Commercialisation FRLP Module 4 A comprehensive introduction to IP and commercialisation. At the completion of this module you should have developed an understanding of the process, which will enable you to participate in your university's research commercialisation.  Register for workshop
Tuesday 29th May 12.30 noon - 4.30pm AGC Seminar Room Level 6, 115 Grenfell St  afternoon tea provided	Managing People in a Research Context FRLP Module 7 The research team and its individual members are the most important aspect of managing research. This module examines the challenges of leading and managing in a research context, research leadership, building an effective team and managing individuals.
