Expectations Questionnaire

An expectations questionaire can be a useful means of seeing what level of agreement or difference there might be between your understandings of how the research degree program will unfold and the understandings of your students. So please see this pdf version of such a questionaire developed for use at the University of Adelaide, together with instructions for use. Reflective Journal

An assessment requirement for the full module of the Exploring Supervision Program (ESP) is the writing up of a reflective journal; participants in the program are asked to reflect on their own observations of, and involvement in, the processes of research degree supervision, in particular looking critically at the degree to which theories, tools, approaches etc. canvassed in the program assist in day-to-day practice. But you don't have to be enrolled in the program to gain some benefit from writing up one of these journals - we think all supervisors have something to gain from this. In this folder you will find some examples of journals that ESP participants have been willing to share with the research degree community.

This tool is to assist research students - and their supervisors - to know what to do, and what the expectations are, at each stage of the candidature. 

Student self-evaluation & assessment form

Developed by Dr Marilyn Clarke (Business School) for the 2009 Exploring Supervision Program, the Self Evaluation & Assessment form has been designed to help students think about their needs and skills, and to assist supervisors in assessing progress and identifying areas where support is needed.
